What is flashing?

Flashing are simply areas where your roofing material meets with anything that is not roof. Flashing is an essential part of a properly functioning roofing system, and works to make sure that water is redirected to drains and gutters, and not leak into your roof. Fault flashing can lead to building envelope leaks, resulting in the need for building envelope restoration.

What is a building envelope?

A building envelop is a combination of all the parts of a building's outer shell that allows it to insulate heat, and prevent moisture. The building envelope is a combination of the roof, exterior walls, windows, doors, and foundation of the building. These all work to structurally support the building, but also control exchange of water, air and heat.

Faulty Flashing can lead to building envelope issues

If roof flashing is faulty and not redirecting water, you may discover leaks or other signs of water problems.
